At DragonMyst Kennels we are dedicated to producing top quality Alaskan Malamutes
We are a small hobby kennel located in Northeast Florida. We breed rarely and selectively. Many hours of planning and research happen long before puppies are ever conceived. Our goal in breeding is to welcome healthy, happy puppies into the world to train, show and love. Whether they will ever debut in a show ring is uncertain when they are born. What we can promise them is having a wonderful time growing up here at DragonMyst and with our help, live out their lives with a wonderful new family. All of our dogs are first and foremost our pets, they are very important members of our family!
When you purchase a pet puppy from us, he or she will be on a Limited Registration with the American Kennel Club. You will be given a packet of information regarding feeding, vaccinations, basic care, food coupons and a list of health issues that can affect this magnificent breed. As with many other breeds, Malamutes have their share of hereditary diseases as well as some that can affect them that are not yet proven to be genetic. At this point all we can do as breeders is to no longer breed animals for which we have documented proof that they were affected or produced an affected puppy. All of our breeding animals are tested clear for cataracts, hip dysplasia, heart defects and canine polyneuropathy. Their clearances are listed in the Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals Database (www.offa.org). This is an invaluable resource for you as a prospective puppy buyer to be reasonably sure your new puppy will have the best chance of being clear of many genetically related health issues. There are new tests coming soon, so keep an eye on our site for updates.
We are very active in the AKC show community. Andrea is our in-house handler, she shows our dogs and shows for others as well. Our daughter, Jayden, is our resident Junior Handler and we are extremely proud of her accomplishments!
If you would like to inquire about a puppy from one of our upcoming litters, please contact us. We welcome prospective pet owners to ask us lots of questions and recommend that you visit our links section to do research before you decide to join the DragonMyst family. Sharing your life a Malamute is challenging but in the end so very rewarding,
Thank you for visiting!
